Oak swill basketry is an endangered craft unique to South Cumbria with only two full-time swillers practicing and teaching the craft. Baskets are made using oak from carefully managed ancient woodland in Cumbria. This one-day course is led by professional basket-maker Lorna Singleton and combines oak basketry technique with beginner weaving patterns.

Lorna Singleton's work is on display at the Museum as part of our New Year New Maker exhibition which runs from 19 January - 6 May 2019.

The workshops will take place in the LAB building at Abbot Hall.

Tickets are £90 per adult and include lunch in The Bakestone cafe. The intimate sessions are limited to 7 people.
