School Visits

Book a Free Self-Guided School Visit

Bring your students to experience nationally significant art and local history in a unique setting. Schools can participate in a learning session facilitated by one of our learning officers or enjoy free self-guided visits to Abbot Hall Art Gallery, the Museum of Lakeland Life & Industry in Kendal and Blackwell, The Arts & Crafts House in Bowness. 

Teachers are encouraged to visit (free of charge) beforehand to plan their school's self-led visit. Drawing boards and materials are available at Abbot Hall.

Our workshops are facilitaed by a member of the learning team and designed to complement the National Curriculum.  They inspire students with hands-on activities in an immersive, creative environment. School groups can delve into historical inquiry, printmaking, portraiture, and landscape by exploring our nationally significant collections.

Workshop Costs for Abbot Hall, Lakeland Museum and Blackwell

Self-guided visits are free
Half day (2 hour workshops) £4 per pupil
Full day (4 hour workshops) £6 per pupil

We will invoice your school following the visit.

Workshop Timings for Abbot Hall, Lakeland Museum and Blackwell
Morning workshops run from 10.00am to 12.00pm

Afternoon workshops run from 12:30 to 2.30pm

Full day workshops run from 10.30am to 2.30pm

To negotiate alternative timings, teachers must liaise with a member of the learning team.
